What influence does touch have on face perception in 7-month-old babies? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In unserer aktuellen Studie wollen wir mehr \u00fcber den Einfluss der m\u00fctterlichen Ber\u00fchrung auf die Emotions- und Gesichtswahrnehmung bei Babys im Alter von 7-Monaten lernen. Ziel ist es, die Rolle des Ber\u00fchrungssinns auf bspw. Emotionen besser zu verstehen und neue Erkenntnisse dar\u00fcber zu erlangen. Dazu wenden wir die Methode, EEG (Elektroenzephalografie) an. Es handelt sich um eine nicht-invasive Methode, bei der mittels kleiner Sensoren, sogenannten Elektroden, die elektrische Aktivit\u00e4t des Gehirns passiv gemessen wird. Diese Messmethode ist in der S\u00e4uglingsforschung fest etabliert und es gibt keinerlei Nachteile. Zus\u00e4tzlich wollen wir mittels eines Pulsoximeters die Herzrate Ihres Kindes messen. Dies hilft uns dabei, objektiv beurteilen zu k\u00f6nnen, wie Ihre Kinder auf die Bilder reagiert, sodass wir Aussagen hinsichtlich der Aufmerksamkeit und\/bzw. Erregbarkeit treffen k\u00f6nnen. W\u00e4hrend der Messung sieht Ihr Kind eine Pr\u00e4sentation von einer Reihe an weiblichen Gesichtern mit verschiedenen Gesichtsausdr\u00fccken (fr\u00f6hlich und \u00e4ngstlich) und wird von Ihnen gestreichelt. Sie, als Mutter, werden neben Ihrem Kind sitzen und es sanft am Arm streicheln. Bei einem zweiten Termin der Studie \u00e4ndert sich im Ablauf nichts,  nur, dass hier eine unserer Studierenden (andere Frau) die Streichelber\u00fchrung ausf\u00fchren wird. Ihr Kind sp\u00fcrt von dieser Messung nichts und ist in seinem normalen Verhalten nicht beeintr\u00e4chtigt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does the influence of the mother\u2019s scent develop over the first year of life?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This project aims to investigate the influence of the mother\u2019s scent on the perception of faces and emotions in babies. For this purpose, we use EEG <\/a>(electroencephalography) and eye-tracking to record how your baby responds to different faces and to examine the role the mother\u2019s scent plays in this process. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

For the first session, we are looking for families with 4-month-old babies. The appointment lasts about 90 minutes and takes place at our facilities on the University of L\u00fcbeck campus (CBBM building). During the session, your baby will sit safely and comfortably in an infant seat and look at faces on a screen, with plenty of breaks and opportunities to play, of course. There will be two further sessions when your baby is 7 and 11 months old. This way, we can better understand how perception develops over time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this study, we want to further investigate how babies perceive faces, which facial features play a role, and what happens in the babies\u2019 brains during this process. We are therefore looking for families with babies aged 7 months<\/strong>who would like to come to our lab on the University of L\u00fcbeck campus for an EEG study.
