Publication of the study “How Does Paternal Odor Influence Perception of Fearful and Happy Faces in Infancy?”

We are very excited to announce that our new research article on the influence of a father’s odor on the processing of fearful and happy faces in 7-month-old infants has been published.

In the article, we present exciting new findings and provide insights into how facial processing can be influenced.

The study results showed that paternal odor influences the processing of male, but not female, faces. The infants react particularly strongly to fearful male faces—which is evident in brain activity in the attention component (Nc component).

We therefore provide first evidence that the father's odor influences face processing, particularly the perception of male faces, in infancy.
