Together, Antonia Düfeld, Robin Nehler, and Moira Schummer travelled to Panama City, Panama, to present the work of the BabyLab Lübeck at two consecutive conferences and to engage in active exchange with other researchers.
At ICIS 2026 (International Congress on Infant Studies) and, immediately afterwards, at the FIT’NG Annual Conference 2026 (Fetal, Infant & Toddler Neuroimaging Group), they presented three posters on the following topics:
“Do Touch Type and Identity Modulate Infants’ Arousal? – Evidence from Peripheral and Neural Measures” by Antonia Düfeld [FIT’NG Poster Award]
“The Effect of Maternal Odor on Social Face Perception in 4-, 7-, and 11-Month-Old Infants” by Robin Nehler [FIT’NG Young Investigator Award]
“Do Infants Show Differential Brain Responses to Female and Male Emotional Faces?” by Moira Schummer
Both conferences provided a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas with international colleagues in infant research. Particular highlights included fascinating keynote lectures by Hirokazu Yoshikawa (New York University, “Understanding and Supporting Infant Development in Humanitarian Contexts”), Ghislaine Dehaene-Lambertz (Robert Debré Child Brain Institute, “Imaging the Infant Mind”) and Rhodri Cusack (Trinity College Dublin, “What Can Infants See?”), as well as a diverse and engaging range of presentations and discussions across the various sessions. Our lab is especially grateful for the two FIT’NG awards received by Antonia Düfeld (Poster Award) and Robin Nehler (Young Investigator Award).
